Born in Lake Macquarie, NSW during the lockdown of 2020, What Knot Macrame has become a culmination of many passions for founder Anna Asquith. As an avid fan of all things creativity and community, it has found a place in Anna’s life and heart.
Following a career teaching in an array of education settings and most recently, within a school in a hospital, What Knot has helped Anna to ‘come home’ to herself and honour her creativity. The process of physically making something combining different colours and textures has brought so much joy and that joy has spread to other people in Anna’s community. She has also found joy in combining elements of up-cycling where possible, (Anna is often scouring Instagram to find baskets to attach some cord to!).
Her pieces aim to create something that little bit special for her clients. A bespoke woven piece inspired by a photo of a place that transports them to a particular period in their lives. Macrame has become a way of helping Anna manage her mind and it is quickly becoming a skill that she can wholeheartedly share with others. Anna runs workshops and where possible, collaborates with other like-minded artisans to create special pieces for the home and beyond.
